Hymen reconstruction (also known as Hymenoplasty) is a very sensitive surgical procedure to repair a woman’s hymen, performed either under anesthetic or with sedation. It may repair the hymen alone or also repair its underlying muscular tissue, which may have been distorted due to frequent sexual activity.
Some women whose hymen has broken, look to restore the original hymen quality of their vagina for religious or cultural reasons, which is when hymen reconstruction is considered.
The procedure will restore the ‘seal’ of the hymen so that it will break and bleed slightly on the next instance of penetration, giving the suggestion of virginity. There will be no visible evidence that a reconstruction has taken place.
